About the Spirit of the Training
A Message From The Founder

This training isn’t just about techniques — it’s about remembering how to come home to yourself, how to meet life with presence, and how to walk the path alongside others.

For many modern meditators, staying connected is the hardest part. Without a teacher or community, practice can feel lonely. Living Dharma was created to change that — to offer a space for real connection, real growth, and real transformation.

It's a space for you to feel supported as you explore not only meditation, but what it means to live with depth, purpose, and compassion.

This course is offered on a dāna (contribution-based) model, inviting you to give what you can. This keeps the teachings accessible and honours the spirit of mutual care at the heart of the Dharma.

Whether you feel called to teach or simply deepen your own path, you are warmly welcome here. Come and experience the strength of shared practice and the joy of walking together.

The Modules - Join Anytime

Each 3-month module is open-enrollment and designed as a complete transmission.

You can join any of the first four in any order but you need to complete at least one before moving into the facilitator training.

Wisdom & Insight

The Heart of Buddha’s Teachings

In this module, you’ll be gently guided into the powerful system of insight meditation the Buddha himself practiced on his path to liberation. At the heart of our study is the Ānāpānasati Sutta — a beautiful and profound early Buddhist text that outlines 16 steps of mindfulness with breathing. These teachings offer more than technique; they are a living doorway into stillness, clarity, and deep inner knowing. For many students, this module becomes a turning point — the moment when the path of awakening becomes not just understood, but directly experienced.

The Art of Happiness

Opening the Heart to More of Life

In this heart-opening module, we immerse ourselves in the four sublime attitudes known as the Brahma Vihāras — loving-kindness (metta), compassion (karuṇā), empathetic joy (muditā), and equanimity (upekkhā). Through traditional Buddhist meditations, daily reflections, and relational practices, we cultivate a deeply embodied capacity to meet ourselves and others with warmth, presence, and steadiness. This module invites you to soften the inner critic, reconnect with innate goodness, and experience the healing power of an open heart.

Non Dual Awareness

The Path of Direct Realisation

This module offers a direct taste of the natural mind through the luminous teachings of Dzogchen. Rather than striving or progressing step by step, we explore the possibility of awakening right here, in the immediacy of present awareness. With gentle guidance and pointing-out instructions, you’ll be invited to relax the search, release the grasping, and recognise the ever-present clarity that has always been with you. This is a path of simplicity and intimacy — one that reveals the awakened state not as something to attain, but as the essence of what you already are.

Therapeutic Meditation & Shadow Work

Healing Your Inner Worlds

This final module explores meditation as a path of healing and integration. While mindfulness helps us stay present, therapeutic meditation guides us into the deeper layers of the subconscious — the places where pain, patterns, and unmet parts of self quietly live.

Through somatic awareness and gentle shadow work, we learn to meet what’s been hidden with presence and compassion. Rather than trying to fix ourselves, we create space to become whole. This is where meditation becomes not just a practice of awareness, but a profound tool for transformation and inner freedom.

Facilitator Training - Optional

Sharing from Your Own Depth

In this self paced module, the path turns outward — not as a performance, but as a natural expression of your own integration. Learning to teach is one of the most powerful ways to deepen your personal practice. Here, you’ll be supported to discover your authentic teaching voice, shape your own meditation style, and develop the clarity and confidence to guide others. Whether you’re drawn to hold space for mindfulness, work with stress and anxiety, or simply lead from presence, this module offers practical tools, gentle mentorship, and the opportunity to serve from a place of lived understanding.

In the tradition of pure Dharma Teachings, the first four modules are given on a Dana basis.  What this means is that everyone is welcome to attend.  At the end of each 3 month module, students are invited to contribute to the teaching and teacher.

Meet your Trainer.

About Michael Daly:

The Living Dharma Insight Meditation Training is led by Michael Daly.  He is the author of Calm Living and founder of the Mind Performance Institute and Being Yoga, where he teaches and mentors coaches, clinical hypnotherapists, and meditation teachers.

Michael has spent over 25 years immersed in the practice, study, and teaching of meditation. His journey began with traditional Buddhist disciplines and deepened through seven years of one-on-one study with a Himalayan meditation master. While rooted in these profound lineages, Michael’s approach is refreshingly down-to-earth. He’s not interested in rigid dogma — but in what works. His teaching weaves together classical insight practices, the immediacy of Dzogchen awareness, and the wisdom of modern psychology and neuroscience.

As a clinical hypnotherapist and lifelong meditator, Michael offers a unique blend of ancient depth and contemporary relevance. His style is warm, humorous, and deeply embodied — sharing not just techniques, but the living heart of meditation. Whether you’re a long-time practitioner or just beginning to explore the path, Michael invites you to experience meditation as something alive, human, and transformative.

This training is more than a course. It’s a doorway — into deeper understanding, clearer awareness, and the joy of sharing this path with others.

At the conclusion of this course, you have the option to complete the meditation facilitator training...

Why Become a Meditation Teacher?

Mindfulness meditation is booming!

You simply can't argue with the science. Mindfulness changes the structure of the brain, clears stress, heals the body and dramatically changes your mental outlook. All this from just becoming still for a few minutes each day. It's almost a miracle.

Becoming a teacher of mindfulness meditation is such a gift. In a short time you actually see people's faces change, their minds relax, their bodies heal and their hearts open up. If a pill could do what mindfulness meditation teacher training does it would be worth Billions!

What Others Are Saying:

"The way in which Michael teaches is inspirational to say the least."  Cheryl.

"Thank you so much for a wonderful course.  I really enjoyed it!  I definitely helped me to deepen my understanding and to start getting into teaching and spreading the love of mindfulness and meditation.  Your way of facilitating was awesome.  It clearly made me realise how we all experience things differently, how everyone feels and things differently and how we need to adjust our teaching accordingly.  I am glad to have found such an inspiring teacher."

Dagmar

Cairns Meditation & Yoga Teacher

"This has been completely life changing for me.  This amazing course you put together has not only given me incredible tools as an emerging teacher it has also given me a deeper understanding of myself and has allowed me to disassemble the barriers I have had up for years and to comfortably sit with the sadness that overwhelms me at times.  I guess it has allowed me to truly open my heart to the limitless potential within me.  I will be forever grateful for the teachings and wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Wherever my life takes me I will always remember this as a wonderful turning point in my life."

Michael

Travelling Meditation & Yoga Teacher

"I’ve just finished teaching my first meditation class at the studio where I usually teach yoga. 14 people turned up! And they all LOVED it and want more! I was so grateful at the end I got emotional but such a beautiful feeling!

I wanted to say a big thank you for all your knowledge and for being such an amazing teacher. I know now I am exactly where I’m meant to be and so grateful to you."

Lisa

Brisbane Meditation & Yoga Teacher

"I have explored many styles of meditation over the years and Living Dharma is the first I have come across that, I believe, can meet humans in their current context of modern life as it addresses the stress and anxiety that is rife amongst most.  I am thankful for the healing I experienced over the retreat.  Each of the discourses you offered came at the perfect moment and hit home every time.  It goes without saying that you are an excellent facilitator and I feel blessed to have been learning with you."
